Hospitality Career Pathways

Program Overview
Duration: Eight weeks (six weeks training + two-week job placement)
Cost: No cost to eligible participants
Method of Study: Combined online and in-person
Schedule: Monday to Friday from 9am until 4pm
Age Requirement: 18 years and older
Eligibility: Resident of Ontario, eligible to work in the province. Newcomers and individuals in receipt of Ontario Works are encouraged to apply.
Note: Proof of full vaccination against Covid-19 (defined by Health Canada as two shots) is required. Masks are required for any in-person training.
Program Description
HWTC has partnered with the Ontario Tourism Education Council (OTEC) and Tourism SkillsNet Ontario to offer Hospitality Career Pathways (HCP), a free eight-week program that will introduce you to different careers in the hospitality industry.
HCP is a must for anyone considering a career in hospitality including jobs as a Housekeeper, Room Attendant, Guest Service Agent and Restaurant/Banquet Server. In addition to the various roles in the industry, you will also learn about industry standards and expectations for success in the workplace.
Program Details
The program includes online and in-person instructor-led sessions, independent activities, and one-on-one coaching sessions. In-person classes take place at the Toronto Don Valley Hotel.
It also includes a two-week placement within a hospitality setting.
Training and certifications in WHMIS, Smart Serve, and Food Handlers, as well as resume writing, job search, and interview skills, are also included in the program.
