HWTC partners with Hospitality EDGE to get hospitality workers ready to work

Toronto (September 17, 2021): The Hospitality Workers Training Centre (HWTC) has partnered with Hospitality EDGE to get hospitality workers in Toronto, Brampton, and Mississauga ready to work.

As part of the Hospitality EDGE program, HWTC will be offering three free online courses designed to provide workers and new entrants with the knowledge and best practices they need to succeed in a post-Covid hospitality workplace. Each instructor-led course is two half-days in length and will focus on a particular aspect of returning to work in hospitality.

Back-to-Work Bootcamp will prepare hospitality workers to find new positions by helping them identify their transferable skills, freshen up their soft skills, polish their resumes, and prepare for interviews.

Customer Service Superstars will help refresh basic customer service skills, reinforce the importance of teamwork, address cultural awareness and unconscious bias, and help workers learn to manage complaints and difficult customers.

Safe Workplace Essentials provides workers with the safety training and certifications needed to ensure they are contributing to a safe workplace, including WHMIS, OHSA, AODA, and workplace violence and harassment.

Registration for these free programs is open to residents of Toronto, Mississauga, and Brampton, who have experience in hospitality or a desire to work in the hospitality industry. Interested participants can learn more about these programs and register here.

The Hospitality EDGE program is delivered by Destination Toronto in close partnership with the City of Toronto’s Economic Development & Culture department, Tourism Mississauga, and the Tourism Office of the City of Brampton, and is made possible through funding from workforce development initiatives from the Government of Ontario’s Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism, and Culture Industries.
