HWTC has partnered with Hospitality EDGE to help employees in Toronto’s hard-hit hospitality sector prepare for the return to work. These free courses will support hospitality workers in retraining, upskilling, and preparing for a new work environment.

All programs are free, take place online, and are led by industry experts.

Back-to-Work Bootcamp

Led by a team of instructors and coaches with 100+ years in hospitality between them, HWTC’s Back-to-Work Bootcamp will help prepare you to successfully join the workforce in new or similar hospitality roles. In this one-day workshop you will explore your transferable skills, freshen up your soft skills, identify the best ways to work with new colleagues and customers, and prepare for work in a changed market. 


Customer Service Superstars

In this one-day workshop you will learn from a team of instructors and coaches with 100+ years in hospitality between them, who will help prepare you for customer service success in the post-Covid-19 workplace. With their guidance, you will refresh basic customer service skills, explore the importance of teamwork in a customer service environment, address cultural awareness and unconscious bias, learn to manage complaints and difficult customers, review phone and email etiquette, and develop a mindset that supports customer service excellence in any field.

Safe Workplace Essentials

Led by an accomplished team of instructors with 100+ years in hospitality between them, this one-day workshop will help you understand today’s expectations for safe hospitality workplaces. Topics include the Ontario Health and Safety Act (OHSA), Access for Ontarians with Disabilities (AODA), Unconscious Bias and Cultural Awareness, Workplace Violence and Harassment, and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS). These skills are essential in creating a healthy and safe workplace and participants will also receive a WHMIS certificate of completion upon successful graduation.

Fast Track

Hospitality will be hiring before you know it. If you’re between 18 and 29 and you’ve always dreamed of a career in food and beverage, or you just need to get your foot in the door, now is the time to get ready for success – and Fast Track can take you there.

Fast Track will help you discover a variety of hospitality career paths, gain experience through job placement, and give you the chance to earn important industry certifications at no cost. With a mix of online, instructor-led sessions, one-on-one coaching, and support from job developers, Fast Track also includes group activities, resume preparation, and mock interviews.

Restaurant Basics

Restaurant Basics can give you the head start you need to land an in-demand job with a great hospitality employer. In just two days you will learn the basics of working in a restaurant and will acquire the skills needed to become a busser, host, server, banquet server, or café worker.

Led by instructors who are experienced hospitality professionals, Restaurant Basics will give you an advantage over unskilled applicants, helping you land a better job faster. If you’re an experienced hospitality worker looking to transition to food and beverage service, or a new entrant eager to start your career, Restaurant Basics should be your first stop.
