What’s it like to retire from a career in Hospitality? What do you do to fill your time after you’ve stopped working? These are important questions are probably on your mind if you’re thinking about retirement.
One of the great things you can do as you start to think about retirement is join the group the Hospitality Workers Training Centre has organized just for you.
Twice a month, a small group of people meet at 60 Richmond Street East. Together, they enjoy a light lunch with coffee or tea and do some fun activities. TTC tickets are provided.
Francine, who worked as a Room Attendant at the Holiday Inn Downtown (now the Hyatt Regency Toronto) for 15 years, joined the group and is really enjoying it:
“It is a great experience. It’s given me new companionship. I really enjoy all of the activities we do. It’s something different every time we meet.”
The group does activities like cooking demonstrations, outings to places like the Art Gallery of Ontario and some light exercise. Jasmine, who worked at a downtown Best Western for 23 years says: “It’s a great environment to socialize and make new friends.” Jasmine likes that the people she meets are also from the Hospitality industry. She says: “I would encourage people to come and give it a try! See if you like it.”
If retirement is in your future, join the group and meet other people who are making new friends and having fun.
The group meets two Wednesdays a month from 1-3:30pm on the following dates in the new year:
